DB maintenance complete

Database maintenance complete.  Model synchronization was disabled from 2018-12-19 17:30 UTC to 2018-12-19 18:45 UTC.  All model data is synchronizing as usual.

Unscheduled DB maintenance starting at 15:30 UTC

Unfortunately, EveKit will require unplanned database maintenance starting in about 20 minutes.  Account synchronization will not occur during the maintenance.  Some website features will also not work.  However, your data will continue to be available via any EveKit access keys you have created.

This maintenance event could take as long as two hours, although we're hoping to complete all changes in about an hour.  An additional notice will be posted when the maintenance finishes.

ESI Issues Preventing Updates

UPDATE: As of 1218 UTC, ESI service has been restored.  EveKit updates should now start occurring as usual.

As of 0400 UTC on 2018-11-07, the EVE Swagger Interface (ESI) has been having serious problems preventing most third party applications from updating.  EveKit has not been able to synchronize any account data since that time.

Data already stored on EveKit is not affected and you'll be able to retrieve your data as usual.  However, since EveKit has not been able to synchronize any data since 0400 UTC, you'll be seeing an out of date view.  Also, since parts of the EveKit web site require the ESI, you may see random failures while viewing your account on our site.

We will update this post again when service has been restored.

your data from the model server.

Start Time: 2018-10-09 01:30 UTC
End Time:  2018-10-09 02:30 UTC

  • Model synchronization will be suspended for portions of the downtime.

ESI Updates Tonight (0100 UTC 2018-06-16)

As posted on the forums, we'll be performing an update to ESI 2018-06-11 (as released here).  This is a minor update as follows:
  • Character Notifications and Character Assets have new enumeration values.  Until this update is performed, these values will be ignored by EveKit.
  • Character, Corporation and Alliance Contacts now support a list of label IDs instead of a single label.
The change to Contacts will result in a minor change to the Contact model.  After the update, the Contact model will store labels as an array of label IDs instead of a single value.  For historic data, the single label ID attached to the Contact will now be stored in an array of length one.

ESI Updates Tonight (0000 UTC 2018-05-08)

As posted on the forums, we'll be performing an update to a more recent release of the ESI OpenAPI specification.  The most important changes in this update affect the wallet journal endpoints which have replaced several existing fields.

This update also includes newly added support for the following ESI endpoints:
  • Character ship fittings are now retained.  This change requires adding the "fittings" mask to your EveKit access key.  As a reminder, you can change your access key mask using the "modify" option in the EveKit Data Access Key view.
  • Character loyalty points are now retained.  This data is accessed under the "character sheet" mask of your EveKit access key.
  • Character mining ledgers are now retained.  This change requires adding the "mining ledger" mask to your EveKit access key.
  • Corporation mining extractions, observers and observations are now retained.  This change requires adding the "mining ledger" mask to your EveKit access key.

ESI Upgrade Complete

It took longer than expected, but the upgrade to ESI is now complete.

UPDATE: WE WERE ABLE TO RESTORE MOST ESI REFRESH TOKENS.  PLEASE CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT TO CONFIRM.

ALMOST ALL ESI TOKENS EXPIRED AND NEED TO BE RENEWED.

If you added an ESI token on EveKit, you'll almost certainly need to re-authorize as many of these tokens failed to renew (apparently refresh tokens DO have a time limit).

ESI Upgrade on 2018-04-14 starting at 16:00 UTC

As posted on the forums, we'll be migrating the EveKit backend off of the XML API and onto the ESI.  This work is the culmination of months of development and testing on our beta site, which will be turned down in a few weeks once we believe the main site is stable using ESI.

This work is scheduled for Saturday, 2018-04-14, starting at 16:00 UTC.  We expect the upgrade to take about one hour during which all account synchronization will stop.  The front end will still work and will allow new accounts to be created or modified.  Access to model data may or may not work and should not be relied upon.

We will post again once the upgrade is complete.

Reference data synchronization moved to ESI

We've just released EveKit 4.1.0 which marks the complete migration of reference data synchronization over to the EVE Swagger Interface (ESI).  You can view this data interactively here or programmatically with the Swagger code generator of your choice.

Because of differences in the ESI, a number of changes have been made to the reference data we collect and version.  Specifically:
  • XML API calls, the XML API error list, and reference types have been removed.  The first two are no longer relevant.  Reference types are encoded directly as text in ESI calls (rather than numeric values as in the XML API).
  • All skill endpoints have been removed.  There was little value in versioning this data in the first place.
  • In general, ESI results do not provide "name" fields as a convenience as the XML API did.  Instead, callers are expected to perform their own name lookups for corporations, characters, etc.  Our reference data synchronization follows suit, all name fields have been removed.
  • Otherwise, any new fields provided by ESI have been included.
  • Server status is largely unchanged.
  • Alliance information is organized as an alliance list, member corporations, and icons.  Unlike the XML API, member corporation lists do not include the date the corporation joined the alliance.  Instead, callers are expected to use ESI corporation endpoints to retrieve this data.  This is actually a better design as it more accurately captures alliance history.  For example, the XML API could not capture cases such as corporations leaving and rejoining alliances multiple times (only the last start date would be shown).
  • Sovereignty information has been reorganized into four model objects: campaigns, campaign participants, system sovereignty (e.g. sovereignty map), and sovereignty status for structures.  This new organization replaces the sovereignty map and conquerable stations from the XML API.
  • Faction information is largely unchanged.  However, the ESI does not include an overall summary as the XML API included.  This can be computed, however, by summarizing statistics for each faction (which is provided).
  • Map jumps and kills are no longer captured with reference data synchronization.  This data proved too large to efficiently store with our synchronization mechanism.  Instead, we now capture this data using the same mechanism as used for market data.  Presently, we are only capturing this data.  We will release an endpoint for accessing this data in the near future.
Now that reference data synchronization has moved to the ESI, we will turn our attention to moving character and corporation data to the ESI.
